A stately 20th-century French fireplace in the Louis XVI style, the Waldorf Astoria design was modelled after an antique mantelpiece in the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York in the 1930s. The fireplace features a simple, moulded shelf atop an inset-panelled frieze, delicate rosette paterae on the corner blocks, and scrolled, fluted jambs.
