Interior Design Trends 2017

2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the design world with the announcement of Pantone’s Colour of the Year: ‘Greenery’. Due to our penchant for all things green be it luscious plants, furniture, textiles, and even cocktails, we could not be more excited. Not only is green the colour of revitalisation and growth, but, is known for its calming psychological effects (mental note: repaint the home office green), which makes it a welcome addition to almost any interior.

What else can we expect to see this year?

  • Terracotta will be featuring in the form of tiles, pots and other assorted decor items. Hot tip for the home: the warm earthy hues in terracotta and matte textured finish pair nicely with fresh greenery.
  • Dark Furniture items are back in including; coffee tables, cabinets, cupboards, side tables and consoles.
  • Cork will be replacing blonde wood this year throughout the home. Like terracotta, cork will add a wonderful textural element to a space and as an added bonus, when used for larger surface areas, is great for absorbing noise.

From 2016 we bid adieu to; metallics (that means you copper), Scandinavian style interiors, navy blue, subway tiles and blonde wood. To keep your home up to date, stylists recommend a simple switching of cushion covers or alternating decor pieces around the house.

Wishing you all a bright and successful 2017.
