Waldorf Astoria 163 • Nero Marquina Marble
A stately 20th-century French fireplace in the Louis XVI style, the Waldorf Astoria in Nero Marquina Marble, was modelled after an antique mantelpiece in the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York in the 1930s. The design features a simple, moulded shelf atop an inset-panelled frieze, delicate rosette paterae on the corner blocks, and scrolled, fluted jambs.
